Reinvention is a Choice
Today’s challenges impact each of us politically, environmentally, socially, technologically, legally, and economically. Each challenge demands a resilience that goes beyond simply enduring. We must adapt quickly to new circumstances, learn from failures, and remain open to change.
Embracing technology and adopting a technophilic mindset can help us address climate change, improve social equity, transform economies, and connect and collaborate to create more sustainable solutions.
This month’s blog is for those who choose to reinvent themselves, despite the challenges and the unknowns, into the next version of themselves, drawing on the experience of the past, the passion of today, the needs of others in days to come.
May we all lean in to support you.
Choose to Reinvent Yourself
It’s cold and scary out there – even the weather has become unpredictable. What used to work well is no longer appreciated, employed, or necessary. The pace of change is whiplash-worthy, while the range of impact is unparalleled! But with these challenges are opportunities for those who choose to reinvent, persevere, pivot, and evolve.
Keys to Reinvention
It makes sense to want to reinvent yourself right now, with the uncertain future and the pace of change accelerating. Before you launch into a reinvention campaign, consider the following core principles:
Hold true to your North Star – get clear about and committed to your values
Leverage your passions and strengths – do what you love and do it well.
Embrace the opportunities to learn and grow – for that is the foundation for what’s next.
Be agile and resilient, responsive to the circumstances and the trends — for nothing worthwhile will come easily, especially not now.
Choose to be excellent – especially on the things that matter most for you.
There’s a silver lining during these uncertain and turbulent times. There’s an opportunity to grow and learn, progressing to a newer version of yourself, built on your own passions, skills, and values.
Adopt an Abundance Mindset
If you have the courage, capability, and resilience to choose to reinvent yourself, adopt an abundance mindset, seeing the world in a more optimistic, inclusive, and collaborative light. That will increase the likelihood of success.
Be optimistic as it increases the likelihood that something positive will happen.
Be inclusive. Others on your team and in your circle are more likely to be excited to contribute to your growth, expansion, and ideas.
Be generous - distribute the returns fairly and share widely, as this will motivate everyone to contribute, engage, and participate.
Celebrate the successes of yourself and others; by doing so, you can uplift them and help them succeed as well.
Reframe challenges as opportunities to grow and leverage collaboration to lean into those challenges.
Welcome failure as a necessary step toward success.
Delegate, empower and enable! Share the leadership and management duties, responsibilities, and wins.
Navigate between the short-term and long-term goals, the top-down and bottom-up perspectives, within an abundance frame of mind.
Choose to include others with an abundance mindset in your community, on your team.
Enjoy the journey. Find moments of appreciation along the way. At the end of the day, the destination is just an idea, and the present moment is what’s real.
Yes, the winds out there do still blow. Yes, it’s uncertain what will come next. But inside your circle and in your heart, many others cheer for you as you step into that next version of yourself, leading and serving those you touch.
